U.K. Solution Provider Develops Extensible Portal Framework Cost Effectively
Overview Solution provider Portrait Software, based in the United Kingdom, helps companies optimise customer treatment strategies and customer-facing processes using analytical business tools. It looked to develop the "Business Console," a portal framework for accessing the kind of data generated by its customer interaction management solutions. Initially, the company wanted to create a Web-based dashboard - to sit within the framework - for its Interaction Optimizer (IO) product. The company selected Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 as the portal technology with Microsoft Excel Services as the user interface and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 providing the database services. By choosing SharePoint Server 2007, Portrait Software gained a solution whose out-of-the-box features provided a release-to-market version without the need for significant development work and little custom code.
