IBM TotalStorage Virtual Tape Server 3494 Advanced Policy Management - PTP Selective Dual Copy

Overview The IBM TotalStorage 3494 Virtual Tape Server (VTS) revolutionized the way zSeries customers utilize their tape resources. As the capability of the base VTS and its high availability Peer To Peer (PTP VTS) configuration grew, so had the need to efficiently manage the large number of logical volumes a VTS supports. Advanced Policy Management (APM), introduced with feature code 4001, provided a framework for DFSMS/MVS control of several aspects of the management of logical volumes in a VTS system and an initial set of control functions. This white paper describes an additional control function, called PTP Selective Dual Copy, being introduced in VTS code release 7.2.
