New High-Performance, Integrated Storage Solution Makes Waves in Cardiology Pacs

Overview While recording cardiology catheterization procedures on CDs and capturing echocardiology ultrasounds on VHS tape had once been effective method of storage, technology obsolescence and legislative directives are changing the way medical facilities view patient data. In most states, patient data needs to be retained a minimum of 7 years. In many cases, technology obsolescence is becoming a reality as digital images stored on older media become unrecognizable and unreadable on newer imaging equipment. The creation and adoption of Digital Imaging and COMmunications (DICOM) and open source standards has gone a long way toward improving image portability across various storage media and is one of the drivers toward the rise in cardiology PACS adoption.
