Intel has launched twelve new processors for portable computers squeezed into ultra-small packages using miniaturising technology. The processors are made up of chips that are 0.13 microns, less than a thousandth of a millimetre across.
Intel has boosted its drive for smaller laptops with a range of processors with low power demands. The processors include enhanced SpeedStep technology, which automates switching between low-power standby mode and full-power mode.
This is likely to be one of those occasions as last week saw vendor Intel introduce the latest products in its Itanium 2 family of 64 bit processors. Intel has announced two new Itanium 2 processors optimised for dual processor (DP) systems.
Lees spoke at an event in San Francisco to announce Intel's latest high-end Xeon processors, models that incorporate new 64-bit features to easily accommodate more memory and which next year will be replaced by models with dual-processing engines...
Intel's Core Duo and Pentium D processors have been designated the mass conference-calling processor of choice for Skype 2.0, launched last month. Other processors based on the x86 instruction set, such as AMD's chips or Via's, obviously will not...
Using largely HP hardware and Intel processors, six initial data centres will be built at those locations, each with 1,000 to 4,000 processor cores (about 125 to 500 servers). Researchers from all three companies as well as the host institutions...
