Daylight Saving Time
Overview A basic capability of any modern computer system is timekeeping and date/time calculations. Computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems are no different: Windows, not application programs, provides the basic timekeeping functions including Daylight Saving Time. Microsoft clearly states that many important productivity applications such as Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook are impacted by the Daylight Saving Time change. The impact of incorrect dates and times on computers running Microsoft Windows could become annoying and disruptive. This paper is a technical overview of the issues faced by managers of Microsoft Windows computing platforms as they consider the ramifications of the United States Energy Policy Act of 2005.
