Towards a Mobile Agent Framework for Nomad Using .NET
Overview Mobile agent systems offer a wide variety of advantages. However, most actual mobile agent systems only offer a wired connection and typically have very limited, if at all, mobile device connectivity features. To date, Java has been the foundation of almost all existing mobile agent systems. This paper discusses the approach to a "Pluggable" mobile agent system for Nomad, developed with Microsoft .NET and Microsoft .NET Compact framework. Nomad is intended for use on a variety of .NET wired and wireless devices (e.g. Pocket PC) that support Bluetooth, Infra-red and 802.11, which are fast becoming the norm for ad hoc networks. The intentions of the Nomad system and the intended use of mobile agents in the system are discussed.
