Guatemalan Coffee Growers Association Increases Member Support While Reducing Costs

Overview As the nonprofit marketing, training, and informational support association for Guatemalan coffee growers, Anacafe is dedicated to expanding coffee markets globally and helping its growers get the best prices. Because Anacafe receives a percentage of Guatemalan coffee export sales, a recent coffee-pricing crisis reduced the organization's budget by approximately 47 percent, forcing staff cuts and reducing grower coverage by half. To restore that coverage with its limited resources, the organization implemented a custom Web portal solution based on the Microsoft .NET Framework. The solution enables Anacafe to assist at least as many growers as before the budget cuts and provides an electronic storefront to market coffee directly to consumers.
