Migrating Legacy Microsoft Applications to .NET

Overview Microsoft's .Net framework is a set of technologies, a framework and a development environment that is an evolution of the platform from the traditional VB/ASP/COM technologies that comprised the Microsoft development experience through the 90s. Organisations typically are still maintaining a large number of systems developed during that time in these technologies. With the .Net platform now more than 3 years old, companies are confronted with the need to make a decision on how to upgrade their systems to start using the .Net framework. Microsoft has created .NET as a fundamental building block for a Service Oriented Architecture which solves key problems in application integration and interoperability while also being closely aligned with open standards that have become widely adopted in the industry.
