Java RMI Vs. .NET Remoting

Overview This paper focuses on Java/RMI and Microsoft's .Net Remoting, the two popular distributed object paradigms for application development today. Java RMI, acronym for Remote Method Invoking, is designed by Sun Microsystems which targets working with distributed objects on Java Virtual machines. .Net Remoting is the latest distributed infrastructure from Microsoft that allows applications to use objects outside of the caller's address space. It's a replacement for DCOM. Both allow developers to write distributed applications without worrying too many details about low-level distributed system programming issues.
