A P2P Approach to ClassLoading in Java

Overview The Classloader has long been one of the key extensibility points of the Java Virtual Machine architecture. It lies at the heart of many of the distributed mechanisms that have made the Java platform so successful. This paper gives a brief overview of various distributed system technologies and analyzes their applicability within a Peer-to-Peer domain. The paper proposes a new architecture for remote loading of classes based on the Peer-to-Peer paradigm. This solution incorporates some novel approaches, addressing many of the problems inherent in current solutions. This paper also discusses the reference implementation of this approach over both traditional TCP/IP and JXTA based networks.
