U.K. University Bids for World-Class Status With Support of Latest Operating System

Overview The University of Manchester (UoM), based in the United Kingdom (U.K.), aims to rank among the world's top 25 universities. UoM students use computers on campus for studying and collaborating. The university regarded the computers as an important driver in delivering the aims of the agenda. It wanted to deploy the most secure and flexible operating system and establish an engaging interface to help students get the most from the computers. The university chose to join the Microsoft Rapid Deployment Programme and worked with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Computacenter Services to roll out Windows Vista on 60 computers in the John Rylands University's library.
