.NET and Java: A Study in Interoperability

Overview The developers will be facing an interesting task in the coming years: "Make the .NET inventory management system talk to the J2EE customer relationship system", or "The sales staff wants to access the CRM system (written in J2EE) from Outlook", and so on. And while it would be nice to be able to hold up the Web services software stack, point to it and say, "Here's the answer to all the interoperability concerns", the practical and brutal reality of the situation is that it's nowhere near that simple an answer.
