Using Security Information Management Systems for PCI Compliance

Overview This SANS paper focuses on SIM technology functions and how these technologies can be used to effectively meet a number of the requirements within the twelve areas of the Payment Card Industry's Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

PCI regulation is more specific than other regulations with regards to its recommended IT controls and the volume of data involved in managing compliance with PCI is one of the largest your organization has worked with.

The key to pulling all of these requirements together into a well-orchestrated compliance program is the use of a security information management (SIM) system that will collect, analyze and secure the data generated by all of these different control solutions.
