Spyware Is a Blended Threat: Your Security Demands a Layered Approach

Overview Many organizations are becoming aware of the spyware threat, but not all of them appreciate its full implications. Beyond the immediate impact of spyware on network resources, data security, and the victims of the crimes it facilitates, the mere presence of spyware within an organization can indicate a broader, more pervasive, and potentially even more serious problem. While spyware can be spread many ways, many of the most common involve direct user participation: visits to inappropriate websites, unauthorized downloads of games and other applications, and the non-business use of peer-to-peer networks and instant messaging systems.
