Expose Your Intranet Portal to the Outside World in a Secured Manner (Aka. A Secured Inside/Outside Portal)

Overview As the web makes ubiquitous access to corporate data possible and as more employees take advantage of the flexibility of "Tele-commuting"; the onus is on systems administrators to secure their environment, such that information is not inadvertently exposed to those for whom it was not intended. Increasingly, it has become necessary to treat as possibly hostile, any request that has not originated from within the physical confines of the local network. This paper introduces the concept and techniques for implementing a secured "Inside/Outside" topology for OracleAS Portal 10g which allows a users access privileges to be determined not only by their identity but also by the path used to access the Portal.
