Migration to New Platform Brings Efficiencies and Provides Framework to Support Ongoing Strategic Initiatives

Overview Nassau County Health and Human Service (HHS), located on Long Island, New York, provides more than 250,000 of the county's 1.3 million residents with an array of services. Changing state and federal regulations, such as new confidentiality requirements, brought increased processing and application development demands-putting additional strain on an already ageing IT infrastructure and downsized staff at Nassau County Health and Human Services (HHS). HHS, in conjunction with the county's Department of Social Services (DSS), migrated from its Wang system to a Unisys ES7000 enterprise server running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
