TIPC: Providing Communication for Linux Clusters

Overview Transparent Inter Process Communication (TIPC) is a protocol specially designed for efficient intra cluster communication, leveraging the particular conditions present within clusters of loosely coupled nodes. TIPC provides a powerful infrastructure for designing distributed, site-independent, scalable, highly-available and high-performing applications, as well as a good support for cluster, network and software management functionality. This paper discusses the motives for developing TIPC and describes its architecture.
