Enhancing HP ProLiant Server Performance to Extend the Life of 32-Bit Microsoft Windows Server 2003 in the HP Server Based Computing Space
Overview As processor technology has evolved, the performance stress observed in many solution areas is migrating from traditional processor bottlenecks and operating system limitations to the disk subsystem. The HP Server Based Computing (HP SBC) space is no exception. This huge increase in scalability has effectively extended the lifecycle of servers running 32-bit editions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 in the HP SBC space. This white paper describes the system components varied by HP in an effort to remove the disk I/O bottleneck and then optimize the disk subsystem. The tested server is described as are the test methodology and topology.
