Best Practices in Managing the Data Capacity of the HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System White Paper
Overview The HP StorageWorks D2D Backup solution is targeted at small and mid-size businesses who are finding it difficult to manage several standalone tape drives and want to consolidate, automate, and simplify the whole backup process. The HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System emulates LTO2 tape autoloaders or standalone LTO2 tape drives using low-cost/high-capacity SATA-based disk drives. This white paper provides worked examples of different tape rotation strategies that can be deployed with HP StorageWorks Data Protector Express backup software (shipped with the product) and their impact on the capacity available within the HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System. The HP D2D Backup System is supported by all the major backup software vendors including Symantec Backup Exec 11d.
