NIS+ Obsolescence and Migration From NIS+ to LDAP

Overview As of HP-UX 11i v3, NIS+ will be obsolete. To prepare for this obsolescence, environments using NIS+ will need to be evaluated to understand the directory services needs and determine an alternate directory services solution as appropriate for the environment. LDAP is HP's recommended replacement for NIS+. HP will provide migration tools to assist during the migration and transition period. While LDAP is the recommended replacement for NIS+, other directory services can be used as a replacement for NIS+ but HP does not provide tools or instructions for migrating to other directory services besides LDAP. This paper provides high-level information on migration from NIS+ to LDAP.
