Overview Managed service providers offer 24x7 monitoring and managed services to large and small enterprises. Often managed service providers work in conjunction with the IT staff of an enterprise to deliver value-added services. In a few cases, the managed service providers themselves may be the IT operations team for the enterprise. In a few cases, the managed service providers themselves may be the IT operations team for the enterprise. The term "Managed service" encompasses a number of areas of work including security management, asset and inventory management, backup and recovery, etc. This paper focuses on availability and performance management, which is the area of management most often associated with 24x7 monitoring.
