HP Creates 6.5 Terabyte Business Intelligence Data Warehouse for Worldwide Marketing
Overview To better support worldwide marketing, HP needed to expand its Business Intelligence (BI) data warehouse with a scalable solution that provided self-service reporting and the ability to perform ad hoc queries. HP moved to the highly reliable and scalable HP Integrity Superdome Server with 32 Intel Itanium 2 processors and 32 gigabytes of RAM. The Integrity Superdome server runs Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition for Itanium-based systems. The Integrity Superdome Server is partitioned into two 16-processor systems. One partition hosts the 6.5-terabyte relational database, using a single instance of SQL Server, and the other is used for testing.
