Tips and Tricks for Tuning CFD Codes

Overview CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is one of the most used codes in aerospace. It is used for a variety of things such as external aerodynamics, internal aerodynamics, time dependent aerodynamics, aerodynamic noise, heat transfer, multi-phase flows (such as those in high-speed engines and rockets), and aerodynamic-optic analysis. There are also a variety of other aerospace uses such as analyzing blood flow in the human body under a variety of conditions such as high-g flight and low-g flight (space flight). Consequently, achieving the best performance possible from CFD codes is vital to company and product success. This whitepaper will discuss tips and tricks one can use for tuning the CFD codes and Linux Supercomputers to get the best performance possible.
