KDE Case Study: Banco Continental SA
Overview Banco Continental SA is a bank with 15 branch offices in a 400km radius. All of it runs SuSE Linux with KDE1.x. The HQ runs about 100 workstations off a single dual Xeon+RAID5 server. Branch offices run in similar fashion with small "Servers" (sometimes as humble as measly Celeron 300A) handling all workstations. Talk about efficiency; administrators love their investment protection (much fewer HW upgrades and requirements). Linux, combined with KDE, ssh, rsync, coda, staroffice, and others allowed this bank to never have to use the traditional operating systems. Needless to say, when all the major virii attacked, they were happy as dog with two tails.
