IBM eServers & Linux Propel Hindustan Motors in to Top Gear

Overview Hindustan Motors (HM) has been a pioneer in the Indian Automotive industry for more than six decades. HM wanted to extend its ERP applications to suppliers and large international customers, expecting that such a move would streamline business processes and reduce costs. To do this, the company needed a scalable IT infrastructure based on open standards. HM also wanted a solution that could serve as a long term investment, ensure system compatibility, and make user training easy. IBM replaced Compaq servers with an integrated IBM eServer iSeries and xSeries integrated platform, running Linux, WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Studio to reduce application development time, inventory and licensing costs.
