Nanyang Technological University Enrolls Intel Solution Services to Set the Direction for e-Learning

Overview Growing use of e-Learning applications by the Nanyang Technological University's 3,000 faculty and staff members, 25,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and fast-rising number of alumni was pushing the university's RISC architecture - based IT infrastructure to its limits. Yet the school was planning to increase the use of e-Learning applications by expanding its alumni distance-learning program. The school wanted to test and validate the expected price/performance and scalability of an Intel architecture running e-Learning applications in a Linux environment. Facing an expensive IT upgrade to accommodate projected 15 percent annual growth in e-Learning activity, the IT team decided to evaluate an Intel architecture as an alternative.
