VPN Into a Linux GUI Over HTTPS

Overview The convenience of having all aspects of one's home computer available to them at all times is a goal that is now achievable. In the past, remote computing required logging into a shell and remembering a slew of commands with only text being returned. For some people it meant opening special ports thus allowing them to use Virtual Network Computing or Remote Desktop Protocols to gain a desktop over the web. Now, it is possible to get the home computer's desktop and user interface securely over https using nothing more than a web browser. One can now use all the installed applications on their home computer or any other computer on their network all from a common web browser from practically anywhere on the planet.
