Comparison of Frequency Offset Estimation Methods for OFDM Burst Transmission in the Selective Fading Channels

Overview In this paper the performance and complexity of several frequency offset estimation schemes for the OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) burst transmission in the selective fading channels has been compared. This topic becomes especially important since the frequency offset increases with user speed on one hand, and the transmission systems e.g. Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) migrate to higher and higher frequency bands where IF and RF oscillators are less stable than at lower frequencies on the other hand.
