Overview Founded in 2004, Capricorn Technologies is a commercial outgrowth of the Internet Archive a non-profit organization founded by industry luminary Brewster Kahle with the lofty goal of universal access to all human knowledge. After building its first few terabyte systems, the Internet Archive team came to a stunning realization: Not only did the invention solve the non-profit organization's needs, but there were numerous, varied opportunities for commercial applications as well. After putting pilot systems through their paces, Capricorn selected the Hitachi Deskstar drives as the backbone of the Petabox based on their superior capacity and reliability, as well as other features that would enable the team to meet or surpass their ambitious design goals.
