Migrating From UNIX SMP to IBM Linux Clusters: The Cost Effective Alternative: PolyServe Matrix Server and IBM xSeries or BladeCenter

Overview The movement to migrate mission-critical data center applications from UNIX to Intel Linux has been accelerated by the improved Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) economics of Intel-based servers and blades, the availability of almost all key UNIX software applications on Linux, and the availability of key infrastructure offerings such as PolyServe Matrix Server and IBM xSeries BladeCenter servers and blades. Migration has also been fueled by the desire to achieve improved manageability and incremental TCO reduction. By using PolyServe Matrix Server and IBM xSeries servers and BladeCenter blades to simplify data center operations, customer can simultaneously achieve server consolidation, storage consolidation, and processing workflow consolidation.
