Storage Management White Papers

Virtualized iSCSI Data Center

Overview Virtualization is a powerful tool for improving data center flexibility, reliability, and utilization, while reducing cost of management. By separating logical processing and storage resources from the physical hardware on which they run, virtualization can greatly improve the utility of these assets. Typically, server and storage virtualization are distinct products that were not closely integrated. Storage virtualization products are frequently tied to a particular hardware platform. Data files for virtual servers are often located within the same "Container" as the virtual machine itself, limiting the way in which the data can be used and backed up.
