Simplified Access to Central SAP Data Boosts Efficiency and Improves Services

Overview For its technical field service, Avaya-Tenovis has now radically simplified access to the central SAP database. A Web application based on Microsoft .NET provides all service-related information, such as customer and order details, activity recordings, as well as technical data, concisely and in an easy-to-use way. The underlying business logic is applicable to notebooks and to mobile pocket PCs as well; some features can even be used via Short Message Service (SMS) with a cell phone. As the base for this new Web application, Avaya-Tenovis decided upon Microsoft .NET instead of Java because information supply is mission critical for the company's mobile service technicians. Consequently, performance and high availability play an equally important role.
