Migration Without a Heart Attack

Overview In Germany, the Employers' Liability Insurance Associations (ELIAs) for metalwork industries, Vereinigung der Metall-BerufsGenossenschaften (VMBG), is consolidating its IT basis. For this, the unified IT department, Vereinigte IT-Abteilung (VITA), decided against Linux and UNIX derivatives preferring to exclusively use Microsoft products and software. All previous systems are being progressively replaced by the Microsoft Windows Server System. Existing host applications are being migrated step by step toward a sustainable software environment based on Microsoft .NET connection software. The former host programmers are now using two new systems: vita.FRAMEWORK and vita.STUDIO.
