Service Composition in Ontology Enabled Service Oriented Architecture for Pervasive Computing

Overview One important issue in Pervasive Computing is how to assist non-expert users to use devices and even to combine their functionality without explicit goals. This paper presents an Ontology enabled Service Oriented Architecture (OSOA), which combines interoperability provided by Web services and semantic description provided by Ontologies, to solve this issue. The authors argue that ad-hoc service composition based on OSOA provides a promising solution for the combination of devices without an explicit goal. The paper also discuss related issues of applying planning to service composition, and present the ideas to solve these issues.
