METRO Group Pioneers RFID, Reducing Losses Arising From Inaccurate Stock Replenishment in Retail Stores
Overview METRO Group is one of the most important international retailing companies. The company wanted to reduce the amount of money lost through goods in stores being out of stock or not on shelf but in stock. The challenge was to improve efficiency of inventory management and stock replenishment and enable goods stored in in-store warehouses to be identified and located easily for rapid replenishment. The company also wanted to explore the suitability of RFID tagging for reducing the percentage of out-of-stock and not-on-shelf items. METRO Group implemented a stock tracking system based on Oracle Sensor Based Services and Oracle Business Activity Monitoring to allow RFID tagging and tracking of pallets and individual articles.
