Global Retailer: Enterprise Demand Management System With Web Services
Overview A global retailer sought to migrate proprietary, legacy applications developed as web-based systems using Microsoft ASP to a more scalable, fault-tolerant IBM WebSphere system, running in a UNIX environment. New server-side applications had been developed using cross-platform Java/J2EE, yet the client already had numerous legacy client-side ASP applications running in production mode. As a result, reusability would be a primary concern during this migration. LiquidHub developed a loosely-coupled Web Services solution to integrate the heterogeneous components. This approach included expanding the client's first-generation Web Services system to integrate a Microsoft ASP web client with the new IBM WebSphere Java/J2EE server.
