The State of the Art in Service-Oriented Computing and Design

Overview Service-Oriented Computing is gaining in popularity as a technique to develop automated enterprise services. It is mainly associated with technology for describing, publishing and discovering enterprise services and for communication between enterprise services. it is argued that there should also be modeling languages, methods and techniques for the design of enterprise services. This is called Service-Oriented Design. This paper takes a first step towards Service-Oriented Design. It gives a brief overview of the area of Service-Oriented Computing and it describes the State of the Art in Service-Oriented Computing and Design.
