MPLS VPN Networking and Migration Considerations
Overview
Multiprotocol Label Switching, or MPLS, was defined in the late 1990s to replace IP over ATM in Internet backbones. Since then, other uses of MPLS in the virtual private network (VPN) arena have emerged, as evidenced by the thousands of customers who now use it for wide-area networking.
This white paper from Verizon Business provides an overview of MPLS VPN technology and explains why it's an important piece of the IP convergence puzzle.
