Two-Terabyte Data Warehouse Improves Business Insights and Customer Service
Overview It used to take Alticor IT personnel months to collect and consolidate sales and customer information from its 12 globally distributed DB2 databases. By the time anyone could use it, the data could be six months old and of historical interest only. To serve its businesses better, Alticor envisioned a data warehouse that would store a rolling five-year window of detailed transactional information. Following a proof of concept at the Microsoft Technology Center that demonstrated solid support for multiterabyte databases and robust Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) capabilities, Alticor selected Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to support its global data warehouse.
