AltaSteel Scraps Novell for Next Generation E-mail System
Overview Based in Edmonton, AltaSteel is a steel manufacturer, with a focus on niche markets such as the mining industry. AltaSteel's aging Novell e-mail system was not up to the task of meeting the company's growing business requirements. The environment was ineffective against the increasing amount of spam that had caused several system crashes. The system also lacked basic management tools to help control and restrict the size of user inboxes. When AltaSteel migrated to Windows Server 2003, it seemed logical to consider an upgrade to a Microsoft e-mail system. Working with Microsoft Certified partner, Compugen Inc., AltaSteel chose to be one of the first Canadian companies to implement Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
