Leading Medical Center Upgrades Operating System to Optimize Security, Manageability

Overview The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has a strong tradition of using technology to support medical excellence. UPMC adopts new technology to make a positive difference for patients, increase operational efficiency, and safeguard internal and patient-related information. To that end, the organization began an upgrade of its 30,000 client computers, moving to the Windows Vista operating system from a heterogeneous environment composed of the Windows XP Professional and Windows 2000 operating systems. The imaging advancements in Windows Vista will help UPMC IT staff members deploy and rebuild computers more quickly, saving them considerable time each month.
