A Use Case Based Mobile Gi Service With Embedded Map Generalisation

Overview This paper describes the application of a mobile service that includes embedded map generalization capability. This technology has been implemented in a project referred to as GiMoDig (Geospatial infoMobility service by real-time Data-integration and generalisation). The project has been initiated, in part, to improve accessibility of the national primary topographic databases, especially for mobile users. This paper provides examples on the application scenarios implemented in the GiMoDig service and shows how the transmitted maps can be adapted to meet the specific user needs through embedded generalisation.
