Agile Project Management of Non-Collocated Teams

Overview This paper will highlight and present some of the best practices that have evolved due to the authors experience with applying agile methodologies for non-collocational software development. Software development projects in Verizon are implemented using the Global Delivery Model, with software developers required to collaborate with each other. These projects involve delivering working software frequently from a couple of weeks to a couple of months while adapting to changing business needs. The authors have made the leap to Agile methodologies so as to accommodate non-collocational software development and address the impact of changing requirements even late in development. The adaptation of these techniques yields many benefits; however it requires careful thought and planning.
