Distribution Company Reduces Costs, Saves Employees Time With Collaboration Tool

Overview Alaska Indoor Sports Distributing (AISD), a wholesale distributor, faced daily communications challenges. Its widely dispersed work force relied on faxes, e-mail, and voice mail to coordinate all aspects of the business, but those methods were inefficient and expensive. Attempts to use a remote-access PC solution failed because of bandwidth requirements and high costs. AISD then implemented Groove Virtual Office software, now part of the Microsoft Office System. The company uses Groove workspaces to store and share product, marketing, sales, and administrative information. By using Groove, AISD has reduced phone, fax, and PC costs, eliminated the remote-access issue, and prevented the need for expensive server infrastructure and maintenance.
