Global Options Exchange Boosts Transaction Performance and Reliability, Cuts Costs

Overview The International Securities Exchange (ISE) leapt into world financial markets with a splash as the first all-electronic options exchange in the United States. In less than three years, ISE became the largest equity options exchange in the world. The company started out running core systems on a combination of OpenVMS, Sun Solaris, and Microsoft Windows NT - based servers. However, to streamline complexity and costs, ISE decided to migrate all Intel-based servers to Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the foundation of Windows Server System. In addition, moving to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 from Oracle 8i has enhanced database tuning capabilities and significantly reduced software licensing fees. ISE also is reaping lower management costs, hardware costs, and support costs while gaining higher reliability.
