Oracle9i Application Server: Designing for High Availability
Overview Developers often believe that investing enough money into highly available hardware and software infrastructures will automatically guarantee high application availability. Additionally, applications need intensive testing focused primarily on failure scenarios, possibly run jointly between the development and operational teams. A good practice is to periodically create intentional failures of weak components in order to exercise the recovery mechanisms of the infrastructure. Only then is it possible to deliver high availability.
