Pharmaceutical Company Enhances Security and IT Management With New Directory Service

Overview Leading pharmaceutical company sanofi-aventis operates in 100 countries. For effective research and development, sanofi-aventis Science and Medical Affairs (SMA) conducts clinical trials involving large numbers of internal and external researchers. To improve collaboration, the company created an extranet portal for clinical information sharing. It deployed Active Directory Application Mode and Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 to manage access to this and other applications. These technologies synchronise user account information from multiple systems and ensure that access rights are always based on accurate data. Changes to accounts are made once in the centralised repository and propagated to all applications, enhancing security and reducing data entry.
