Coming Full Circle: Why Disposition Is as Important as Acquisition

Overview From an environmental perspective, the challenges of e-waste are both complex and potentially costly to business. Electrical and electronic components are not biodegradable and are often toxic; as a result, their disposal cannot be taken lightly. PCs and monitors are particularly difficult to dispose of because they contain a number of hazardous materials, including lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium and halogen-based flame retardants. This white paper provides an overview of the e-waste problem, explores its potential impacts to business and discusses how to leverage asset management principles to mitigate those impacts.
