Overview Other ITIL proponents feel that IT and business leaders should choose a staged approach when implementing the ITIL framework and best practices because the impact of change on the organization is overwhelming. Early successes reveal the true value of ITIL and build confidence and determination to complete the remaining implementation steps. Since a single process is being implemented, there is generally more patience while the bugs are being worked out, so there is less risk of abandoning the implementation project. Published reports of ITIL implementations show both methods have been successful. This paper will more closely examine the conservative staged approach.
