VERITAS Backup Exec 10: Disk Restore Performance Benchmark
Overview VERITAS Software commissioned VeriTest to benchmark and compare disk based restore performance of VERITAS Backup Exec 10 for Windows Servers, Hewlett Packard Data Protector 5.5, and Computer Associates ARCserve 11.1. Benchmark preparation and setup consisted of an initial full backup of a single Windows 2003 Server volume to disk, followed by five incremental backups also performed to disk. Using the synthetic backup feature, a component of the Backup Exec 10 for Windows Servers Advanced Disk-based Backup Option, a synthetic full backup was executed. This operation was performed with VERITAS Backup Exec 10 only, as this functionality is not available with Hewlett Packard Data Protector 5.5 or Computer Associates ARCserve 11.1.
